What is a child capable of with a camera in hand?

With that idea in mind, actress and producer Daniela Gracindo developed the Young Filmmaker project with the purpose of giving children and young people a voice. It all started with a filmmaking workshop dedicated to children. The Young Filmmaker Workshop occurs since 2009, and has worked with more than 200 children and young people.

Faced with the success of the films produced in the workshop, Daniela Gracindo and the young filmmakers felt the need to show their work to a larger audience.

“Since then, I did some research and ended up finding out incredible works done by children and young people all over the world, which, besides revealing their artistic talents, have much to add regarding their views on the world”.

So, in 2010, the International Young Filmmaker Festival — which occurs annually and gathers films made entirely by children and young people between 8 and 17 — was born.

In 2014, the project expanded its reach once more through a program on Canal Brasil: the Young Filmmaker TV Show, hosted and produced by Daniela Gracindo, with direction by Walter Lima Jr.
